Jason W. B. Pizzo

SENATOR, DISTRICT 37

A public servant to you, and to teenage twin boys, who demand I leave it better than I found it.

Senator Jason Pizzo was elected to the Florida Senate in 2018. As the incoming Senate Minority Leader, he currently serves on seven committees.

Representing twenty cities across coastal Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, Senator Pizzo serves as the Chair of Broward Legislative Delegation as well as the vice chair of the Senate’s Resiliency Committee, ensuring the priorities of this district are always at the forefront. Additionally, he was recently selected as the chair of the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee.

Prior to holding office, Senator Pizzo received his undergraduate degree from New York University, and after several years in his family’s private development firm, earned his master’s degree from Columbia University. While receiving his law degree at the University of Miami, he was sworn-in as an Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. During his time as a prosecutor, he helped create the SAO’s Gun Violence Initiative, which focused on cold case shootings and homicides involving juveniles.

As the only senator who lives in a condo, Senator Pizzo is acutely aware of the unique issues facing condo unit owners. For years leading up to the building collapse in Surfside, a city he represented at the time, Senator Pizzo had filed legislation pushing for condominium association transparency and building safety. It is through his leadership that the Legislature was able to pass robust legislation relating to condominiums and condominium associations, ensuring Floridians will be able to live in structurally safe and well-maintained buildings.

During his time in office, Senator Pizzo’s office has supported thousands of Floridians with issues ranging from housing and food insecurity to navigating the State’s unemployment system. While in Tallahassee, Senator Pizzo advocates for legislation that focuses on effective solutions that will positively impact Florida’s families.
